Egg Donation in Ukraine

Egg Donation in Ukraine

Egg donation in Ukraine is one of the most popular areas in reproductive medicine. Donor oocytes can used in the IVF program and in the surrogacy program. The use of donor eggs significantly increases the chance of childbearing in families where women, for some reason, are deprived of the opportunity to use their own ovarian reserve or have already experienced unsuccessful IVF.
Egg donation is legal in Ukraine and is regulated by Ukrainian legislation. Infertility treatment in Ukraine with donor oocytes is very popular among foreigners, as patients can choose the phenotype of their donor. Most of the donors in Ukraine are of Caucasian appearance. Before egg donation, the donor undergoes a complete medical examination to make sure that the donor is healthy and can give high-quality and healthy eggs.

Legal aspects of egg donation in Ukraine

In Ukraine, egg donation, including for material reward, is allowed and regulated by the law on assisted reproductive technologies. Oocyte donation is absolutely legal and is regulated by such legal documents as " Fundamental Principles of the Ukrainian Health Legislation " (Article 48), "Family Code of Ukraine" (Article 123), as well as "Procedure for the use of assisted reproductive technologies in Ukraine", approved by order №787 dated November 1, 2013. There are no laws governing the frequency and number of egg donation, but doctors strongly recommend that women undergo the procedure no more than once every three months and no more than 6 times in a lifetime. According to Section V of the current "Procedure for the Application of Assisted Reproductive Technologies in Ukraine", egg donation is possible only subject to the provision of informed voluntary consent of an adult woman to oocyte donation. The written consent of the husband (certified by a notary) may also be required. Also, according to the aforementioned section, egg donors can be adult women: close relatives, anonymous donors and participants in assisted reproductive technologies programs, who, with written consent, donate part of their oocytes to the recipient (recipient).

Egg donation cost in Ukraine

Programs with donor oocytes in Ukraine are not paid for by the state of Ukraine or the state where the patients come from.
But one of the advantages of egg donation in Ukraine is that there are affordable prices for donor eggs in Ukraine.
Different clinics and agencies have donor databases where patients can choose their donor. On average, IVF programs with donor eggs range from 3,000 to 34,000 euros. The main part of the program in each clinic is the same, it is the IVF program with donor cells. Also, often every infertility treatment program with donor oocytes includes not only the medical part, but also the organizational and administrative part.

Advantages of egg donation in Ukraine

Today, Ukraine is a center of egg donation, IVF and surrogacy. Egg donors in Ukraine are young women who undergo a complete medical, genetic and psychological examination. The oocyte donation program is used in modern reproductive medicine in order to exclude the possible transmission of various genetic diseases from the mother to the unborn child, and if future mother cannot use her own oocytes because of another different medical reason in the IVF or surrogacy programs. Such couples are entitled to an IVF program with donor eggs. One of the advantages of oocyte donation in Ukraine is that future parents have the right to choose a donor based on the profile provided by the agency.
